Georgia Doran recently visited the BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS and discovered nature's little secret ...
Tucked amongst the turquoise clear Caribbean Sea lie some 60 islands, islets and cays of unmistakable beauty and amazement. With many a secret waiting to be unwrapped and discovered, both in the depths of the deep blue sea and on the sandy shores, The British Virgin Islands is a heavenly paradise.
The beauty of the BVI is indescribable. Every view strikes the eye with a shattering sense of incredulity. It is a world in its own romantic universe.
The BVI is a diving mecca. The glistening blue waters of the Sir Francis Drake Channel are home to some of the greatest dive sites in the Caribbean ranging from spectacular reefs and coral pinnacles to mesmerizing caves and historical wrecks. At the bottom of the ocean, just off Salt Island, lies the infamous Wreck of the Rhone. Known to many as the paramount dive site in the Caribbean, the Wreck of the Rhone is an adventure in itself. The extensive intricacy to the sunken RMS Rhone astounds divers with canons, masts and portholes lying at the bottom of the ocean and acting as a home to the abundance of spectacular and stunning marine life.
Beneath the waves lies a highly magical world. A cliché it may be, but a true one at that. Divers, and snorkellers, will be mesmerized by the sheer mystery and enchantment of the ocean, a distinct universe full of infinite fantasy. There are hundreds of dive sites available to every level of diver, with many shallow sites suitable for snorkellers.
Above sea level, the stunning sandy beaches are enough to take your breath away. And, combined with the carefree Caribbean lifestyle, perfection oozes from the shore.
Whether it is romance, adventure, or even pure escapism, it’s all here in the BVI, just waiting to be discovered, unwrapped and experienced.
Georgia visited the British Virgin Islands in August 2005.
